  2.  #31-35 Man's glory is fading; God's glory is everlasting:
  3.  creatures change, but with the Creator there is no variableness.
  4.  And if mediation on the glories of creation be so sweet to the
  5.  soul, what greater glory appears to the enlightened mind, when
  6.  contemplating the great work of redemption! There alone can a
  7.  sinner perceive ground of confidence and joy in God. While he
  8.  with pleasure upholds all, governs all, and rejoices in all his
  9.  works, let our souls, touched by his grace, meditate on and
  10.  praise him.

  16.  #1-7 Our devotion is here stirred up, that we may stir up
  17.  ourselves to praise God. Seek his strength; that is, his grace;
  18.  the strength of his Spirit to work in us that which is good,
  19.  which we cannot do but by strength derived from him, for which
  20.  he will be sought. Seek to have his favour to eternity,
  21.  therefore continue seeking it while living in this world; for he
  22.  will not only be found, but he will reward those that diligently
  23.  seek him.

  26.  #8-23 Let us remember the Redeemer's marvellous works, his
  27.  wonders, and the judgments of his mouth. Though true Christians
  28.  are few in number, strangers and pilgrims upon earth, yet a far
  29.  better inheritance than Canaan is made sure to them by the
  30.  covenant of God; and if we have the anointing of the Holy
  31.  Spirit, none can do us any harm. Afflictions are among our
  32.  mercies. They prove our faith and love, they humble our pride,
  33.  they wean us from the world, and quicken our prayers. Bread is
  34.  the staff which supports life; when that staff is broken, the
  35.  body fails and sinks to the earth. The word of God is the staff
  36.  of spiritual life, the food and support of the soul: the sorest
  37.  judgment is a famine of hearing the word of the Lord. Such a
  38.  famine was sore in all lands when Christ appeared in the flesh;
  39.  whose coming, and the blessed effect of it, are shadowed forth
  40.  in the history of Joseph. At the appointed time Christ was
  41.  exalted as Mediator; all the treasures of grace and salvation
  42.  are at his disposal, perishing sinners come to him, and are
  43.  relieved by him.

  46.  #24-45 As the believer commonly thrives best in his soul when
  47.  under the cross; so the church also flourishes most in true
  48.  holiness, and increases in number, while under persecution. Yet
  49.  instruments shall be raised up for their deliverance, and
  50.  plagues may be expected by persecutors. And see the special care
  51.  God took of his people in the wilderness. All the benefits
  52.  bestowed on Israel as a nation, were shadows of spiritual
  53.  blessings with which we are blessed in Christ Jesus. Having
  54.  redeemed us with his blood, restored our souls to holiness, and
  55.  set us at liberty from Satan's bondage, he guides and guards us
  56.  all the way. He satisfies our souls with the bread of heaven,
  57.  and the water of life from the Rock of salvation, and will bring
  58.  us safely to heaven. He redeems his servants from all iniquity,
  59.  and purifies them unto himself, to be a peculiar people, zealous
  60.  of good works.
